CCE Applique Drop Seal Achieves Certifire Stamp of Approval

Automatic drop-down seals are a necessary accessory for stopping draughts, smoke, and fire from getting underneath a fire door.

There are different options on the market – some are made for installing directly into the doorset when it is being made like the Superior, and others are ideal for retrofitting onto existing fire doors like the Applique from CCE.

The Applique is a high-quality drop seal that can be fitted on either side of the door making it extremely easy to install and operating automatically once the door is closed. It comes in various lengths to achieve the perfect fit for any application and offers a competitively priced alternative to other similar products on the market.

Until now the Applique had been fire tested to perform in 60-minute fire doors in accordance with BS476: Parts 20&22: 1987 – the British Standards for fire doors. It had also been smoke tested to BS EN 1634-3:2004 and acoustically tested to BS EN ISO 140-3:1995, achieving a rating of up to 28dB Rw.

What it didn’t have was the prestigious Certifire certificate which gives specifiers, customers and end-users absolute confidence about the stated performance of the product.  

Well now it does. Following a rigorous 68-minute fire test held in partnership with Fire and Acoustic Seals at the Warringtonfire laboratory, it successfully achieved its new Certifire ‘CF5995’ certification which is available to download here from our website.

We also took the fire test opportunity to use our Certifire-approved Fire Door Foam^TM and test our new silicone sealant which will be widely available early next year.
