At Fire & Acoustic Seals (FAS), quality is more than a certification – it’s part of everything we do. Following our successful ISO 9001 recertification, we spoke to our Quality & Certification Manager, Leigh Malpass, about her career journey, what quality means at FAS, and why it matters to our customers.

From Administrator to Quality & Certification Manager

Leigh joined FAS five years ago as an Administrator before taking on the challenge of implementing our ISO 9001 Quality Management System. Since then, she has progressed into her current role, overseeing quality management and supporting the company’s certification activities.

Her journey reflects FAS’s commitment to investing in people and creating opportunities for professional growth.

Achieving ISO 9001 Recertification

This year, FAS successfully achieved ISO 9001 recertification with no major or minor non-conformities – a fantastic achievement that highlights our commitment to continuous improvement and high standards. Additionally, Leigh received her first positive observation from our auditor for her comprehensive internal audit processes.

Leigh spent months preparing for the audit by reviewing procedures, carrying out internal audits and ensuring our quality systems reflected the way we work, collaborating with the whole team.

She commented, “It felt amazing to achieve recertification. Seeing all the hard work pay off was incredibly rewarding.”

Managing Director Julian Vollans praised both Leigh and the wider team:

“Leigh has become an integral member of the business. Her professionalism and dedication were fundamental to achieving our ISO 9001 recertification. We’re incredibly proud of what the whole team has achieved.”

Why ISO 9001 Matters

ISO 9001 is the internationally recognised standard for quality management. It gives customers confidence that our products, processes and services are independently audited, consistently managed and continually improved.

For our customers, it means working with a business committed to reliability, consistency and exceptional service.

Looking Ahead

Leigh is already focused on strengthening our Quality Management System and expanding her knowledge of certification to help drive further improvements across the business.

While she played a leading role in our recertification, she’s quick to recognise it as a team achievement.

At Fire & Acoustic Seals, quality isn’t just a certificate – it’s a shared commitment that helps us deliver trusted products, dependable service and the highest standards every day.
