When combined with suitable fire-resistant glass, Therm-A-Bead is a fire-resistant glazing seal that provides reliable 60-minute fire resistance to a wooden fire door. It is designed to ensure that the fire door can withstand fire for 60 minutes.
Feature & Benefits
-
Therm-A-Bead is a PVC-u holder featuring a high expansion phosphate-based intumescent material, designed to provide a masking effect on the beads with maximum insulation between the glass and the bead.
- Designed to provide a masking effect on the beads with maximum insulation between the glass and the bead.
-
Timber doors present particular problems in 60-minute applications when using uninsulated glass, due to the high temperature of the glass and the erosion of the door and beads during a fire test. The Therm-A-Bead is a perfect solution for this. To achieve a complete dry glazing system the Therm-A-Bead should be used in conjunction with a Therm-A-Line, a specially formulated intumescent with erosion-resistant qualities that seals around the perimeter of the aperture.
-
Therm-A-Bead is supplied in 25mm width and in colours white, brown, black or cream, with a self-adhesive tape which makes the application process very quick and simple.
Areas of Application
Ideal for timber fire doors in conjunction with suitable fire-resisting glass and timber glazing beads.

Successfully fire tested to meet the criteria of BS 476: Parts 20 and 22: 1987, in two 54mm FD60 timber fire doors – reference TRADA test FR1632 – 14/7/92
