ERA TS008 Shield Intumescent Strip

The ERA TS008 Shield Intumescent Strip is an additional intumescent component designed for use with the ERA Nu-Mail TS008 Internal Letter Plate where the letter plate is being installed in a fire-rated door. The strip is engineered to protect the letterplate aperture, a known weak point in fire doors, by sealing the opening when exposed to high temperatures.

In the event of a fire, the intumescent material reacts to heat and expands, forming an effective barrier that helps prevent the passage of fire and hot gases through the letterplate cut-out. This supports the overall fire performance of the door assembly while remaining discreet and unobtrusive during normal use.

The intumescent strip is identified by ERA as part of the Nu Mail Shield letterplate system. The ERA technical datasheet lists the product code as DLPNSIK and identifies it as an Intumescent Strip.

Fire Performance & Certification

The ERA Nu-Mail Shield Internal Letter Plate has been successfully included in a 30-minute timber fire door set test in accordance with BS EN 1634-1:2014. The ERA technical datasheet identifies the DLPNSIK Intumescent Strip as part of the Nu-Mail Shield letterplate system.

The complete Nu-Mail Shield letterplate system is also independently tested to meet the requirements of TS008:2022 when both the internal and external letterplate sections are used together.

Important: The fire performance of a letterplate installation is dependent on the specific tested doorset and installation configuration. ERA's fitting instructions state that where a letterplate is fitted into a fire-rated door or panel, its fire rating must be the same as or higher than the surrounding construction, and the scope of fire performance should remain specific to what has been proven by test.
